Carlow-based video-monitoring security company Netwatch has announced its sponsorship of the Carlow County LGFA’s under-14 girls’ squad today, International Women’s Day.
Netwatch is no stranger to Gaelic sports partnerships in Carlow having sponsored Netwatch Cullen Park, the home of Carlow GAA, for the past ten years.
Laura Murphy, Netwatch Senior Marketing and Communications Manager was at the launch of the new kit with the squad. She said the company was keen to show support to ladies in sport and to especially help encourage greater involvement of young girls in sport.
According to research by Sport Ireland*, the majority of girls tend to label themselves ‘not sporty’, with just 12% of 12- to 13-year-old girls meeting recommended activity guidelines for their age, which then drops to 7% for 14- to 15-year-olds.
“We are excited to take the first step in Netwatch’s support of the LGFA and this generation of girls in the development programme. We hope our support will encourage this group of talented young players and inspires other girls to get involved in this and other sports.” said Laura Murphy.
Carlow County LGFA Chairman, Colin Doyle said: “Interest in the LGFA has erupted over the last five years, and we are working hard to develop funding for this sport, so we are very grateful to see companies such as Netwatch coming on board. The company has a heritage in supporting Gaelic games, and this sponsorship will allow us to invest in improved supports to enable this great squad to develop to its full potential.”
Netwatch has a long history of supporting social and sports initiatives. In addition to Netwatch
Cullen Park Stadium and now Carlow LGFA’s under-14 girls’ squad, it’s sponsorships include; Carlow Rugby Club, Family Carers Ireland, the Garda Youth Awards, and SETU.
